Notes on Starting Out Programming
Published. October 4, 2018

It’s mainly about having a problem to solve and then taking the steps to accomplish the task. I am usually just taking the workflow that one would be doing in AutoCAD and automating it. Google and Bing are a great source to find code snippets that can be modified to suit the needs of the code. Getting started for an Autodesk project is covered in this AKN: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/simplecontent/content/my-first-autocad-plug-overview.html Creating a bundle…

Notes from the Support System – Revit Lighting Analysis
Published. May 29, 2018

Autodesk continues to expand its analysis capabilities, with the addition and improvement of the Insight 360 tools, heating and cooling load analysis, lighting analysis and solar analysis. I’ve been seeing more trends of users taking advantage of these tools, but encountering errors that at first glance seem un-explainable. The lighting analysis tools have had a rush of support questions lately, so let’s clear up the air on this tool, and help you get it working for you.First, refer to this document…

AutoCAD Electrical symbols – breaking the 99 pin wire connection barrier

Everybody Lies….
Published. June 21, 2017

One of the ongoing themes of the show “House” (a medical drama from a few years back, starring Hugh Laurie as a modern medical Sherlock Holmes) – is that “Everybody Lies”. This credo is applied generally to patients, some of whom lie deliberately, and some of whom lie incidentally. In either case, these lies present obstacles and sometimes trainwrecks in the way of getting to the truth…I’ve recently run into a couple of examples of this with the Revit API. If you’ve discovered this page, maybe…

Rituals play a critical role in the major religions of the world, whether it’s the Latin incantations and incense of Catholicism, the times of the day and orientation of prayer in Islam, or the dietary rituals of Judaism, they all play a key role in reinforcing who you are why you exist and why you are doing what you are doing. Similarly in community, rituals play a key role in at least two of McMillan’s key aspects of commmunity spirit: membership (the feeling that members have of belonging), and…

In any case, I’ve encountered errors when the combined numbers of pipes and structures reached 500 or above. The error reads “Unable to apply…
